THE RAMBLINGS OF A MUSICAL MAN

"Music, it's my life, I need it more and more!"

Caravan, "Proper Job/Back to Front"

Music has always been an important thing in my life. Perhaps the most important, other than like friends or self fulfillment or something. But it's high up on the list for sure. I've always casually explored music throughout my life, but in the past couple years it has become an even more significant part of it. This page will eventually contain all musical knowledge and insight I have to give.

Album Reviews

I have a lot of albums to talk about! Note that if you're looking for a harsh critical lens, you're probably not going to get one here. I love most of what I listen to and will rate most things very positively. To be honest, it reaches the point where I often run out of ways to say "I love this album!" so I apologize if the reviews get a bit repetitive.

UPDATE 5/1/2026: I am now using a letter grading system instead of stars to rate albums. I decided it would more accurately portray my thoughts on the music, and give me a wider range of scores to give out. At the end of the day though, they're just letters; don't take them as the end-all-be-all.

S is reserved only for the absolute finest of albums. Like, my personal top 10-15 and nothing else. Real transcendent music.

A+ is given to truly perfect albums. Not a single bad track, not a faltering moment. Maybe not as incredible as S-grade albums, but still absolutely incredible.

A is for albums that are deserving of a perfect rating but may have slight moments of weakness or one lesser track. Highly recommend.

A- is for albums that almost perfect, either just missing some oomf or has a couple of weak tracks. Highly recommend.

B+ albums are extremely solid and great listens, but may struggle to reach the highs of higher-graded albums. Highly recommend.

B is given to overall good albums, but there may be some glaring flaws or a few duds in the track listing. Recommend.

B- is for flawed but decent listens. Usually only has a few standout tracks or may lack staying power. Recommend.

C+ is generally for "carried" albums, albums that are mostly lackluster but might have an outstanding suite or section that makes it worth it. Recommend somewhat.

C is where albums start to go bad, or at least mediocre. It may either be uninteresting or abrasive (in a bad way), and usually only has one standout song. Generally not recommended.

C- is for albums with a few redeeming qualities but generally not recommended.

D is given only to truly bad albums with little to no moments of interest, or is slightly captivating but dragged down by its lows. Do not recommend.

F is reserved for "fascist" art. Pretty self-explanatory. Avoid like the plague.

Directory

Not all letters have pages yet. Sorted by band name, or in the case of solo artists, their last name (e.g. Peter Gabriel is in G).

My Music

As you probably know, I make music under the name Overcast Harbor. My music is currently available on Bandcamp and Youtube for those curious. I will soon have a page dedicated to information about my music, mainly "the making of" kinda stuff, as well as explanations of lyrics and my inspirations for each song.
